DLA Supply Chain Alliance Symposium & Exhibition Recap

By Commentary

As a long-standing partner to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Pioneer Industries values every opportunity to strengthen our alignment and stay ahead of evolving priorities—which made attending the 2025 DLA Supplier Conference especially important.

Team members, Gina Hubbard and Ian Becker, spent time with senior leaders across the Aviation and Land & Maritime divisions. Working in tandem, they gained firsthand insights into DLA’s evolving procurement strategies, including its transition from Just-in-Time (JiT) to Just-in-Case (JiC).

Key takeaways:

  • DLA acknowledged the need to enhance forecasting and is actively modernizing tools and methods.
  • DLA is putting an emphasis on Advanced Manufacturing (ADM), particularly Additive Manufacturing (AM) in order to reduce lead times.
  • Pioneer’s own data analytics and procurement forecasting have never been more important in helping our PVPs make informed, strategic decisions.
  • Additive Manufacturing (AM), though still early in adoption, is a promising growth area—especially for sourcing obsolete or hard-to-find parts. Pioneer is proud to support Source Approval Requests (SARs) and Replenishment Parts programs in this space.
  • The Voice of Customer panel underscored the critical importance of prompt bidding and on-time delivery—both long-standing Pioneer priorities.

A special highlight was meeting Major Chris Jones, USMC, Chief of Operations – Land, whose ACV readiness mission reinforced the importance of Pioneer’s role in distributing IVECO ACV sustainment parts. The team also got to connect in-person with Col. Sue Styer, Director of Land Supplier Operations at DLA Land and Maritime.

As the DLA continues its transformation, Pioneer is committed to being a proactive, solutions-focused partner in our shared mission to support the American warfighter.
